Radicals and Revolutionaries - guided walk and dinner - 20 May 2014

Blue Badge guided walk around the Whitechapel area followed by dinner at the Hoop and Grapes

Join our Blue Badge Guide Rachel Kolsky to explore the radical history of Whitechapel. With Angel Alley and the anarchist Freedom Press to Gardiners Corner, rallying point for the 1936 Battle of Cable Street you will discover the stories behind the non-Jewish Rudolph Rocker who became the leader of the Jewish anarchists, Prince Peter Kropotkin, rent strikes, Union Bread and the London streets where, in 1907, you could have encountered Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin.

Annual Civic Luncheon - the Crypts, Guildhall - 2 June 2014

The Annual Civic Luncheon is one of the highlights of our year. It is an ideal opportunity to bring friends and guests and enjoy the wonderful, historic surroundings of Guildhall.

Our guest of honour this year is Sir Paul Judge. He is Sheriff of the City of London and the Alderman of the City of London for the Ward of Tower, the President of the Association of MBAs, the Chairman of the British-North American Committee, of the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, of the Enterprise Education Trust, of the Museum of Brands and of St Dunstan's College, a Director of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service and a Member of the Council of the Crown Agents. He has honorary degrees from Cambridge, Westminster and City universities. In 1996 he became a Knight Bachelor in recognition of his public and political service.
