Visits, functions and events
Each year there are there are certain regular functions in our calendar, such as:
- The Civic Lunch held at the Guildhall where the President hosts a lunch in the presence of the Lord Mayor, the Lady Mayoress, the Sheriffs and their escorts;
- The Annual General Meeting followed by a dinner with a guest speaker;
- The Corporation of the Sons of the Clergy Festival held at St Paul’s; and, of course
- Club members take their seats in the North Grandstand by St Paul’s to watch the Lord Mayor’s Show each November.
but, each year is different ...
In recent years, the Ward Club has visited a variety of places that are in keeping with the Club’s connections with the City of London and its maritime associations.
Here a just a few of the highlights of the some past year’s programmes: the Cutty Sark, the Thames Barrier, the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, the Metropolitan Archives, the Foundling Museum. the Globe Theatre, the Cartoon Museum, a visit to the City of London Environmental Services at Walbrook Warf, Wood Street Police Station, an evening visit to the Tower of London to see the Ceremony of the Keys, a display by the Pikemen and Musketeers at HAC, Wiltons Music Hall and many, many more.
